Young Antibiotic Company Looking for Financing Opportunities
The R&D based company MycoTeQ in Copenhagen plans to raise capital to develop its antibiotic lead compounds and take them through preclinical studies. The studies focus on activity against multi-resistant bacteria. The company raised capital from Novo Seeds in the spring this year.

Lion Goes Mushroom Hunting
R&D Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Board for LEO Pharma, Poul Rasmussen, joins the board of the young biotech company MycoTeQ. The company has access to a comprehensive library of microfungi that includes more than 30,000 unique strains. Poul Rasmussen says:"There must be a lot of interesting molecules in that fungal collection."

Few New Biotech Start-ups
The lowest number of start-ups in the Danish biotech sector in many years was the reality of 2006. One of the few new companies created was MycoTeQ. They target the very important area of drug discovery which is also of very high importance to the established pharma companies in the region. Søren Carlsen, partner of the venture fund Novo A/S, adds: "It pays off again for private investors to invest in early phase biotech companies."
